Bio

Dr. Flum is a general surgeon with a clinical focus on emergency general surgical care, management of complex gastrointestinal conditions, biliary tract disorders and hernias. He is the Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery and directs the Surgical Outcomes Research Center (SORCE). His research focus is on the comparative effectiveness of common surgical procedures, running clinical trials and implementation initiatives to improve the quality of care. He also directs an NIH T32 research training program in gastrointestinal outcomes research.
