Bio

I am a Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor at the UW School of Public Health. I am a primary care physician and health services researcher at the VA Puget Sound and I direct the Primary Care Analytics Team (PCAT) for the VHA Office of Primary Care. My primary research interests include primary care practice, program evaluation, social determinants of health, and community-based and clinical interventions to improve chronic disease management, particularly using health coaches or peer support roles. I am Co-Director of the MD fellowship program at the Seattle Health Services Research & Development (HSR&D) Center of Innovation and have a long track record of mentoring junior faculty and fellows.
