Bio

Dr. Abedini is an assistant professor of Medicine in the Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Washington. She obtained her MD from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, and fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a former Fogarty Global Health Research Scholar and also completed a global health research certificate program and rigorous health services research training program through the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, where she also obtained a Masters in Health and Healthcare Research. Her scholarly interests focus on applying pragmatic educational and systems-based approaches and investigative tools (including human centered design) to better enable and support clinicians caring for seriously ill patients. She currently serves as the Assistant Program Director for Wellness in the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and also leads several research initiatives aiming to enhance training and capacity to care for diverse, seriously ill patients locally and globally.
