Bio

Dr. Nicholas Meo is Associate Medical Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at Harborview Medical Center.

He received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and completed residency in internal medicine and a quality improvement chief residency at University of Washington. He became faculty and a practicing hospitalist at VA Puget Sound in 2015 and Director of Quality for Hospital and Specialty Medicine in 2016.

In 2020, Dr. Meo joined the hospitalist faculty at Harborview Medical Center. In the role of Associate Medical Director, he oversees performance on internal and external quality measures as well serving as physician lead for the patient safety program.

As an educator, he developed novel curricular experiences and taught hundreds of medical students, residents, faculty and staff in principles of quality improvement and patient safety. He is currently faculty in the Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety at UW Medicine. Research interests include safety measurement and the novel application of patient safety science as well as understanding how to provide effective, efficient and patient centered care for patients experiencing prolonged hospitalization.
